What does 'hold your stomach in' mean and why is it important?

The abdominal muscles are key core muscles.  This means they help stabilize your body and assist in everything that you do!  This is why it is important to have a strong and healthy core.

You may have heard trainers say, "Be sure to hold in your stomach' while doing such and such exercise.  What does this mean?  What does this look like?

Top 2 Reasons

I'm taking a survey to find the top 3 reasons people struggle to exercise consistently.  Please email me at Kristy@GetFitbyPhone.com  with your reasons.  In a few weeks, I'll post the top three results along with realistic ways to overcome those struggles.

I am listening.....please share!

Low energy

We live in a very busy society.  There is always so much to do, and often times we find ourselves living with low energy and stamina.  Exercise seems to be the furthest thing from our minds when we are busy and tired....but is is worth the effort to workout anyway?  Is it worth the discipline to 'just do it?'

Stretching at your Desk

Do you sit at your desk for hours every day?  If so, you have probably noticed how stiff and tired your body becomes from just sitting.  Take 2-3 minutes every hour or so and do these stretches......you won't be disappointed at the refreshment they bring!

-Sit up tall, but relaxed.  Relax your arms beside you (not resting on arm rest).  Push your right shoulder towards the floor while gently tilting your head toward the left (face is looking forward).  Hold for 20 seconds then switch to the other side.  Repeat!
